Developing an FDA-Compliant Cell Boundary Analysis and Electronic Records System

Instead of using several software packages to interface with different manufacturer’s specular microscopes for cell boundary analysis, G Systems developed a custom LabVIEW-based application that interfaces with multiple specular microscope brands to perform image capture, analysis, and reporting using a single software platform. The system, which also uses NI Vision software and NI IMAQ Data acquisition hardware, enables quick and accurate measurement of cell geometry and statistics and is compliant with FDA 21 CFR Part 11 requirements for electronic record storage. Measuring Flight-Induced Mechanical Effects On a Helicopter

During flight, it is important to keep a close watch on the physical behavior of a helicopter by performing vibration, mechanical strain, and engine temperature measurements. Global Helicopter Technology, Inc. (GHTI) develops data acquisition systems that perform these measurements. When GHTI decided it needed to upgrade its system to be smaller and more configurable, they contacted G Systems. The new system developed by G Systems uses LabVIEW and SCXI, and as a result, is easily configurable, smaller, and provides better data in less time. Download

Simplifying and Accelerating the Process of Oil Well Casing Removal for Repair or Reuse

Oil well casing is typically removed from oil wells using hydraulic jacks during workover or plugging and abandonment operations. Prior to removing the casing, there is a need to characterize the casing’s ability to be removed from the hole. G Systems automated this previously manual process using LabVIEW and NI data acquisition hardware. The new system improved reliability, accuracy, and removal speed, and operators are now able to graphically view the movement of the casing, quickly determine the casing’s free point, and automatically generate reports for their customers. Performing an XPS Surface Analysis System Upgrade for Semiconductor Research

Research 

 

The University of North Texas Materials Science and Engineering Department needed to modernize the control and data acquisition system for its X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) system, which analyzes the molecular composition of thin film surfaces such as silicon. Thus, they turned to G Systems, who developed a LabVIEW control application to acquire data from the XPS system, automate experiments that can take a day or more to run, and provide analysis and reporting functions. The flexible user interface also allows researchers to view data in multiple formats and change experiment parameters in real time while an experiment is running.

Monitoring and Analyzing Electrophysiological Signals for Sleep Research

Sleep researchers at the University of Texas Medical Branch monitor and analyze the effects of drugs on the sleep patterns of laboratory rats. Previously, they were performing the analysis and report generation of the data using manual strip chart recorders, which was tedious and time consuming. G Systems accelerated the process using LabVIEW and NI data acquisition hardware to digitize and store conditioned signals simultaneously from eight animals. Additionally, the signals can also be processed offline. Download

Automating a Precision Solder Process for a Telecommunications Company

Process Improvement

 

Placing solder on circuits without oxidation and voids is important to the performance of the end product. A telecommunications company aimed to improve this process by applying dry solder to a board and then precisely controlling the ambient temperature and pressure around it. To assist with this process, G Systems designed and implemented a configurable control system in a short period of time using LabVIEW and NI FieldPoint to automate the soldering procedure. Download
